Australia Motor Insurance -- first time?
I'm buying a new car and am looking for insurance cover. I've gone to copious company sites and most don't ask my speed/ticket history, just accidents. Will I obligation to send them any sort of driving history report after I buy or will they get that on their own? I've hear companies have refused claims contained by the past because people own not told them about their driving history and want to make sure I enjoy cover just in overnight case! Thanks!!

when you take out an insurance policy, you normally involve to either talk to someone or overrun out a proposal form.
usually, this WILL ask for any traffic offences as well as any vehicle accidents you've been within. essentially, the insurance company is trying to get a picture of the type of driver you are. ie, are you a risk taker, by speeding and ignoring the decree?
not all companies ask for formal driving infringement history (say if you have have only one or two tickets) BUT they are within their rights to ask for it since they accept cover.
i don't believe an insurance company has any rights to contact the police department and ask for your driving history, however, later can request that YOU obtain this from the police and show them a copy before they will cover you.
yes, an insurance company CAN stay away from to pay a claim if you have on purpose withheld your driving history from them. at the time of taking out cover, you are advised that the company can refuse a claim or rescind your policy if you aren't honest in what you tell them. it's not regularly that this happens, but it does happen.
