Medical provider be supposed to bill my insurance, but sent bill to collection. how I go and get it bad credit report?

A medical provider was supposed to bill my secondary insurance for a portion of a bill. I never hear from them again, and now all of a sudden, the bill is sent to a collection agency instead and is showing on my credit report. How can I accord with this so that it is removed from my credit report, since the provider had agreed to bill the insurance, but never told me that the bill was not paid previously sending it to collection?
~~How long ago did this happen? This will show on your credit report for 7 years. If you write any letter, contact them, etc. it will unfurl the claim against you again thereby starting the 7 years all over. So if it has be say 5 or 6 years, then I'd permit it slide, otherwise you will give them the opportunity to keep it on your report another 7 years. If its be only a couple years, then find out what your doctor did on the billing side. Check near your insurance company to see if they ever paid a claim, and if so what your responsibility was. Then you involve to work it out with the collection agency to get it remunerated off, and request them to fix your report since it was a huge mistake by your doctor's department not following through. If the ins. didn't pay then you will call for them to bill it, or send in a claim yourself (if your ins allows). Your best source is your insurance company on this one. Good luck!~~
what philbrig said
"> philbrig... is partially incorrect. Even if you pay your portion or adjectives, it can still remain on your credit report for 7 years because it was not paid in good time. You MAY (or may not) be able to negotiate a deal where on earth they agree to have it deleted if you foot some or all. They do not have to agree to this. If you did owe any that be not paid on time and they do not agree to remove it, it can remain for 7 years, even if you pay envelope it.
First, contact the medical provider and ask if they attempted to bill the subsidiary insurance. If they did not, then contact the collection agency and inform them of what happened. They are contained by the business of collections, and if it as easy as billing an insurance company, they will be more than glad to work with you, contact the insurance company, find out what portion you do owe andupon delivery that from you, they will remove the record from the credit reports. If the provider did attempt to bill the secondary and they denied it, consequently you need to contact the secondary insurance and find out why they denied the claim. If their aim is valid, then you are liable for the full debt to the collection agency. If their reason is not valid, or they made a mistake, next get them involved in the process of getting the debt remunerated.
The only other process is to make a dispute directly to the credit reporting agency. The problem beside this route in your case is that probably, at smallest a portion of the debt is yours. If the collection agency can show that you are liable for any portion of the debt, it will stay on your report until it is paid. Sorry there's no easy method to go about it, hope this help.
