Car fluke, no medical insurance; can I use MedPay to dance to another doc instead of repay my emer. room bill?

I live in NC. I was contained by a car accident;received whiplash, low posterior pain, and my left eye is drooping. The guy who hit me is idiosyncrasy. I don't have medical insurance. My car insurance company used my med-pay & give me a check for $2000 to pay my emergency room bill. Is it ok for me to make monthly settlement arrangements with the emergency room & use the $2000 so that I can be seen by a doctor to find out what's wrong near my eye & fix it?

First of all, I don't understand why they salaried you, and not the provider directly?

Secondly, if the other driver is at fault, you should be submitting your medical bills to his company. After you are done with treatment his company will review and evaluate your claim and present an proposal to you.

Finally, making monthly payments to the ER is something you would have to discuss w/ their billing/collections department.

Hope this helps Source(s): Claims 6 yrs
