I know what you are getting at - you don't want your insurance to compensate if you don't feel they should (i.e. the taxi should pay) but to be precise not relevant to the hospital or to you at the moment. If you hold insurance, tell them so. They'll charge the insurance company instead of you. If you tell them you don't, they'll bill you.
