You can easily check you minimal rates surrounded by Connecticut in internet, for example here - http://healthplans.bebto.com
Google "Assurant Health" and "Golden Rule Insurance". If they are licensed in your state, they will hold local independent agents to help.
If you brother doesn't have natural life insurance, I also recommend that as well.
He might just want to settle with his local auto insurance agent. Source(s): Retired agent, 30 yrs.

There are no cheap insurance policies. If they sound cheap, they own a high deductible.

Most likely your brother wouldn't be eligible for any free help offered by the state, especially if he is lately an average overall healthy 26 year old.
But it's well-mannered for you to be pushing him to look into some sort of coverage because we just never know when something could happen, even if we tend to believe we don't requirement insurance because we don't go to the doctor or don't think we can afford it so we risk it. If an twist of fate were to happen, your brother would be surrounded by a financial mess for a long, long time and you don't want that to happen.
My cousin actually have to file bankruptcy at the age of 22 because she have no insurance, didn't think she needed it & didn't want to fork over the extra $200-300 every month at the time for it, and she was involved within an accident that landed her within the ICU and long story short a huge medical bill that was completely on her shoulders. Sure she could have set up a pocket money plan of sorts, but she would have been paying it bad for the rest of her life pretty much and it's awful but they figured that the liquidation would at least be over with sometime within the next 10 years.
I'm not sure what your brother does for a living or if his employer offers form insurance, or even whether or not he has any health conditions, etc. But your best bet would be to start by speaking beside a local insurance agent who will be able to at least see what option are available and if there is anything that is inwardly a price range that he can afford. At the very lowest possible he can look into some sort of high deductible or catastrophic type coverage plan that will get him the lowest monthly fees, and nonetheless be in place should something major develop.
A plan like that most likely won't cover any sort of appointments, check ups, etc throughout the year, he will necessitate to pay for that out of pocket. Some offices, both dental & medical, will propose a discount for those who are paying cash, all you own to do is ask for it. If you find that no providers in your area extend the cash discount option, you can also look into another substitute which will allow your brother to save on his out of pocket expenses through a discount dental/medical plan organization, Ameriplan.
I enjoy used the plan for over 2 years now and love it. You can take a look and hunt for providers in your area by going to this site, http://www.mybenefitsplus.com/cberney
And the plan that offer everything for $39.95/mo. also includes hospital advocacy which will help out in the event something happen and he lands up in the hospital and the bills exceed $2500.
Hopefully you will find some sort of help next to all of this. If there is anything else that you'd close to to know or if you have questions for me, consistency free to send me a message here through my answers profile.
Good Luck!
