Are medical coroners required to enjoy malpractice insurance? ?
Answers: unless they molest the departed bodies no
Coroner isn't a medical job. It's political. In most counties in the US, they aren't physicians.
I believe the medical examiners are required to have insurance. If they misdiagnose the cause of destruction as homicide, and it was accidental or innate, you could end up putting a family through an unnecessary investigation. Or, if you classify a disappearance as a suicide, then that person's family can't collect go insurance, so that could be grounds for a suit.
