Can insurance investigators invade your personal privacy when investigating?
I was wondering because I am getting investigated, for a completely legitimate catastrophe on my part, but they have origin to believe the other person is being fraudulent. I don't want to be a sufferer, but I also don't want people snooping around my life. . So how indepth are these investigations..do they look at things similar to phone call history or other documents that are for your eyes, and the company you are signed with solitary? And is that not invasion of privacy if it did happen?
Answers:
They arent called investigators for zilch. They do investigate. Here'ss the deal you want money and have to prove you deserve it. They look for incidents of prior accident and claims . there is a business that just does that adjectives insurers use it and register you each time you make a claim.
they treat you close to your a fraud until they prove you're not.
They wont tell you what lengths they will move about to. it depends on the loss and the amount of the exposure.. They have alot of money and invest most of it into REASONING WHY you're claim is NOT worth alot of money. They will spend more money to NOT pay your claim.
They can and will look into your pay for ground and do what ever it takes.
This is relevant to not only your own company. but any company you produce a claim for payment with . It depends on the policy precincts and exposure. SO WHAT IS MY CLAIM NUMBER AND WHO IS THE COMPANY?
the things they can investigate can be limitless.
cell phone documentation
pay stub income
employers
substantiation of address; ie utility bills
financial records
medical records current and possibly up to 10 years. they will also budge to the doctors office to verify you signed in; (some dr office can file medical bills, but if you did not sign in, you be never there for the treatment)
the list can jump on and on.
also, they could be videotaping you. that is a adjectives scenario if they believe your injury not to be real. they love to catch someone lifting something large, playing games, (softball/basketball etc), mowing or on a roof doing repairs etc.
believe me if they suspect your claim is fraud, they will do whatever it takes to verify since any payment is made. you may have to cooperate even though you may quality they should not be able to see or not related to this happenstance.
now here is the worst part. presently that they have put your name on a schedule of possible fraud, if you have another accident, it will be on this database that they will bid this company to find out the results to see if they should investigate you again.
good luck
Yes, they can investigate you and ask for cell phone records. If you only cooperate and have nothing to coat, the insurance company will pay you.
Whether insurance investigation or police investigation, it you are open and cooperative, things should go smoother than if you clam up and carry defensive, Because acting suspicious would just label them wonder what you are trying to hide. If you had zilch to hide, you would have no pretext to be paranoid.
