CAR Insurance question (liability, comp and coll)?
I mean, this insurance seems ONLY indispensable if YOU were at fault surrounded by an accident involving another motorist. In that case, you enjoy to pay for your own car damages, and the other guy's insurance will wages nothing towards your damages.
However, if you're not at fault at an happenstance, at all, and the other person smashes into your motor, even if you don't have collision insurance, the other driver would be expected to pay for the damages at tiniest somewhat, that is, if he's insured at all. If not you can still sue, surrounded by court, and do it that way, aside from the car insurance companies handling it.
In any armour,
LIABILITY is required in most states, and is quite requisite,
however personally I think comphrehensive is the most earth-shattering. Theft and damages from other things. Even if someone sideswipes you, and doesn't stop, that can go under comp if you utter it was some object; etc.
Collision seem to only be necessary if your motor is worth it, and if you're at fault.
anyone??

Well, what if the other guy didn't HAVE any insurance? What if your car is hit while parked, and the guy take off, and you don't know who/where he is? Then there's no other insurance to pay for the damages to your coup¨¦.
IF you're not at fault, AND you know who the guy is, and he has no insurance, you can sue him - but getting a judgement is QUITE different than in truth collecting any money. If the guy has nothing, you're not going to receive anything except the judgement - the piece of paper.
If someone sideswipes you and doesn't stop, that's not comp. You want to lie and commit insurance fraud? Exactly what jib are you going to claim, hit along the side of your car? A space ship? Please. Adjusters can tell the difference. And even person "sideswiped" by a bicycle or a shopping cart, is a collision loss, not a comp loss.
The REAL reason most relatives carry collision, is because they borrow money to buy their cars, and it's required by the loan agreement. Me and DH, both our cars are paid for, and we still pass collision . . . because I know what it does and how it works, and it's a smart financial decision. Source(s): agent, 21+ years
