Can my manager force me to seize liability insurance on my dog?

I got a bullmastiff puppy for christmas for my two boys. The landlord know when I got it and has see him on several occasions. Now this month all of a sudden he states I requirement written permission from him to have a dog and he is big and his temperment will be unpredictable(this is what my hotelier is saying). I got my dog after reading about the breed for months, they are great dogs near kids and very lovely. I wouldn't have get him if I had one question he be going to be a threat. Can he do this?

If you leased the property on a month to month basis,yes he can require that you get hold of liability insurance on the dog.
If you leased the property with a 6 month lease or a 1yr lease etc,he can not conversion anything in that lease until it is renewal time of that lease.
If you have signed anything whether it is a month to month lease,a 6 month lease,1yr lease etc you requirement to check and see if there was a pet provision and if in that was an agreement that you would not have pets,you have better get the insurance without a conflict or he could have you evicted on a violation of an exsisting agreement.
Mastiff's are a type of guard dog and YES, they will protect the boys and yourself but he WILL do doesn`t matter what he feels that he needs to do to protect what he feel is his property and that might include attacking the landlord or anyone else that he feels is a threat.
My neighbor brought within a Mastiff that was a few years old and things go along fine for several months and then all of a sudden for some origin,this dog would not let the neighbor in his own courtyard sooooo PLEASE take above usual precautions that one would take next to a big dog around children and or strangers.
YES, He can force you to get the extra inssurance. Sounds like he is fearful of man sued..can you blame him? I agree your dog if trqained right will be fine.

Yes he can as the home owner. Pam is correct. I think that once your landlord saw the size of the dog it may own concerned him a great deal. Some people reckon big dog big trouble.

only if your dog is on the "dangerous" list. rotties, pits, dobies, and some others are the most adjectives. there are really only 6 or 7 breeds on that catalogue. you can get on the internet at www.hcd.what ever state your in.gov to bring back a listing from the dept of housing and community development on what dogs are on that register in your state. other wise if your do i not on that catalogue proof of regular homeowners insurance should be enough to satisfy your hotelier. You could give him an official enumerate from HCD as well.

P.A. A bullmastiff is NOT the same as a Strattfordshire Bull Terrior(pitbul) although they DO look similar- i suggest getting a written note from your vet stating the breed as well.
yes,it's also for your own protection.Every dog gets one bite.Bullmastiffs are highly lovable,however they can turnon you when you least expect it.Most insurance companies won't cover this dog,believe me .I have two fundamentally sweet rottweilers'Allstate was the only one to cover me and my dogs.It solitary cost me ten dollers amonth and it's worth every penny.You are covered up to a 100000$ if something should happen,better then getting sued.
you do have to tell your tenant about pets usually - check your lease agreement to see if pets were deem allowed or not. if not, you can be evicted but i''m sure if he wanted you gone you'd be gone - he's freshly trying to protect his investment. i dont think that he can tell you to receive insurance. but you must pay for any damage cause to the property. and where pest control was a landlords responsablity - it become yours.
Unfortunately, it is his property. If you fail to do so, he can try to evict you. If by haphazard something were to happen, his insurance would be sued. He is trying to put the responsibility on you as it is your dog. Without compliance, you could find yourself surrounded by a sticky situation.

Regardless of your research there are profoundly of people who believe the myth that mastiff are vicious dogs, some because of the history of the breed being used as time of war dogs in ancient times.


Greyhounds have undergo the same belief that they were agressive, 30 years ago within the US it was nearly impossible to adopt one out, in Australia they are a moment ago starting to allow greyhound out in public without have to wear muzzles,

It is to me hard to understand how anyone could hold considered such a docile quiet breed as aggressive
