(UK) Insurance group 5?
UK) What does group 5 mean for car insurance?
My boyfriend is looking for a up to date car, he found a nice rover something or other and he wants to know how much insurance will cost he search on the internet and found the exact car he had view the day before and it said "insurance group 5" can anyone shed some neutral on what this means Thank you
Oh and does anyone know how big of a job it would be if the commander gasket is blown?
(the head gasket hasn't blown but rumours are rovers are prone to blown head gaskets and i be wondering how big of a job it would be to fix)
Thanks

Agree with first answer RE Insurance groups.
Rovers - dutiful cars, cheap now the company has gone bust, but here are rumours of a Chinese company ressurecting the MG brand.
Head Gaskets - yes the K-series engine fitted to most Rovers is prone to head gasket failure. Most potential due to lack of proper maintenance or knock about of the engine (hard accelerating etc). Have a look at the service history at the dealers and ask if it have had a recent gasket change. If it have, no problem. If it hasn't, look for the usual signs of head gasket failure underneath the bonnet - creamy oil gunk on the inside of the oil filler trilby, over-pressurising of the cooling system or streaks where water have leaked out down the engine block. If all looks accurate, give it a go. I muse the lb800 estimate is a bit large, you're most likely looking at around half of that if you take it to a non-dealer garage. It will purloin them probably a whole day to fix it.
Failing that, buy a Honda Civic. It'll never break down!
Happy saloon hunting!
there are twenty groups, group 1 is for the little cars and group20 is for the supercars ferrari's ect. all cars are put contained by a group depending on engine size, repair costs, and replacement value. the rover should be avoided unless its newer than the year 2000 as its not a matter of if the guide gasket goes but when, lb800 bill to fix.
