Car Insurance surrounded by the UK?

When your car insurance expires are you no longer covered or do insurance companies keep the policy going until you repeal the cover?
Answers:
ur not covered so dont risk driving
If it expires consequently it has expired... over.... done...finished... strange question.

However, if a policy comes to the cessation of it's term and you have a direct debit reward set up then the insurance company will automatically take the money and renew your cover.

If they can automatically renew it they send you a letter describing you they're going to, if you dont call and cancel they of late take the money and renew.
it expires at midnight on the afternoon they tell you it has expired ,if you phone them perchance they will give you a cover note but not sure this usually happnes when you catch a new car insured
when it expires you are no longer covered , they normally send you a epistle reminding you that it is up for renewal and if they do not hear from you they will continue the cover.if you pay annually they will distribute you another bill or if you pay monthly like me they lately continue the direct debits as usual and distribute you out a new certificate of insurance.
the moment the insurance has lasped ..so have your cover
when its over, its over.
Usually once the year is up so is the policy if you do not renew it. However, a few companies will keep it going - and hang on to taking your money if you pay by DD!! unless you cancel or until they do not receive your money!
If it's expired afterwards you are not covered, you have no insurance.
