Declined travel insurance claim (UK)?

I have had my travel insurance claim decline. The insurance company made it clear that it is their final response to the issue and advised if I am still unhappy to refer the situation to financial ombudsman service.
I would like to know how useful this might be or whether it would be better to use insurance claim assessors service instead. Possibly, could I forward the concern to both financial ombudsam and private company for further investigation.
Thank you for all your answers.

Well, you need to do two things: 1. read the entire policy coverage. 2. Look at the declination basis, and see if the reason they cite is in agreement near the policy wording.

If the policy only covers cancellations for XYZ reasons, and your purpose is W, then taking further action isn't going to give a hand you AT ALL - it's not in the contract.

If the polciy covers ANY cancellation pretext except XYZ, and your reason is X, well, ITS EXCLUDED.

Travel insurance, similar to long term care coverage, isn't what population think it is when they buy it - you need to know EXACTLY what's covered, for how long, and why, BEFORE you foot over the money. Source(s): agent, 21+ years
What are u claiming? Does your insurance cover your claim?

If you look at the policy carefully, insurance coverage is very specific to the dot.

Most insurers are indebted to pay if your items are covered in the plan. They will require u to hold documented proof as well. Always remember to keep receipts, airline junk mail (in the event of delay or lost baggage lost) Source(s): http://www.einsuran.com
