If you've have gestational diabetes, did you enjoy trouble getting the best rate for go insurance?

This really stinks. I've been told because I had gestational diabetes two years ago, I will not qualify for the best "Preferred Plus" rate for life span insurance. Anyone have a better experience? I am perfectly hygienic otherwise. I am not diabetic. (I know gestational makes me predisposed, but I don't have it very soon.) I'm also not overweight.
