Can a second driver on an insurance policy raison d`¨ºtre the primary drivers rates to increase?

I have my wife on my insurance policy as a "second driver" of my vehicle. She backed into a relatives sports car in our driveway which caused no trash to my car, but lots of damage to the guest. Neither one of us have had any accident and have perfect credit. Will this explanation my rates to increase? Will I have an accident on MY register? If so, wouldn't I be better off saying it be me driving and leaving her out of it if my record and rates be going to be tarnished anyway?
Answers:
Don't lie, it make no difference who was driving and besides, If you are so worried about a rate increase, why bother to even use or to own insurance in the first place? Source(s): Many people verbs so much about a (possible) rate increase that it causes them to to imagine illogically
all drivers affect the rates, so it doesn't matter whether she's a primary or subsidiary, as long as you live together and have access to each other's vehicle, so you're probably going to have a rate increase or at the least lose your "no claims discount"..do
not recline to the insurance company, insurance companies have ways of discovering the truth and once they have determined that you lied to them afterwards they will no longer be interested in you as a
policyholder Source(s): ret agt
it shouldn't go on your record, but at long as her cross is part of your policy your rates will probably go up

unsurprisingly there is so much variability amongst coup¨¦ insurance policies you'll really have to talk to someone who works for your insurer

possibly you can convince your relative to not file a claim and the two of you just settle it on your own (probably cheaper surrounded by the long run)
Some insurance companies will hike your rates for one coincidence and some won't. If yours does then either renovation companies or pay the rate hike.If she hit the coup¨¦ then it's her accident, not yours, and will turn on her record.
