Will my insurance rate increase after a tornado claim?
I recently filed a totally large claim with my insurance company due to a tree falling on my home during a tornado. The town be declared a disaster area. I'm wondering whether my insurance will go up due to this claim. I've never file a homeowners claim before and have be with the same insurance company for over 20 years.

Well, that's a loaded request for information.
They aren't allowed to count a 'catastrophic' claim against you, for rating purposes, so it's not this CLAIM that's going to make the rates go up.
However, EVERYONE contained by your area, will probably see a rate increase, across the board, due to this tornado.
I work as an Auto adjuster and when dealing with insurance question in regards to premium increases I direct the insured put a bet on to the agent. I would also direct you to speak with your local agent agent if you have one. In personal auto your insurance may or may not jump up depending on the loss.
