Does the colour of a saloon affect insurance rates?

I mean we all know that the marked differences between certain cars like the engine size and show, make of car, year of make etc all affects the insurance cost but does the colour make a difference too?
Someone said to me that dark coloured cars like black cost more to insure on that basis than lighter coloured ones similar to white or silver
is this true?
Answers:
majority no,

solely time color is considered an issue for your insurance is if you have a mystichrome paint job. it change colors when looking at it from different angles. that is an expensive paint job and complicated to redo.
No the colour definitely has nil to do with the cost of insurance.
What is affected is the cars engine size, how oodles doors, how old it is, how old you are and how much driving experience you enjoy.
As the colour has nothing to do near either the cars performance or your driving experience it is not artificial in the insurance.
Hope that's helped.
Happy driving. :)
Nope, but doors do, its cheaper to insure a 4 door than a 2 door.
It's my understanding that colors close to red stand out to insurers because it speaks to your personality and likely possibilty of anyone in an accident or getting tickets.
"Yes".... Black goes up by lb50...... Yellow and green cant be seen, so that up a 100.... And if you select pink the ...Oh my god, you wouldn't know how to afford it....lol

Seriously though........No it does not affect your insurance unless you have your car gold ingots plated..
no lol
