For Insurance quote they asked "what % is the flat roof?

I have no idea what they denote. I have a 3 bed semi with a flat roof extension on the ground floor to the reverse of the house. They ask what % of the area of the house is the flat roof. In over 20 years I have never be asked this and don't know how to calculate it. Help please.
Answers:
The above poster is incorrect. The Size of the roof is not the size of the house since the majority of the roof is not flat.

Measure the entire sq. footage of the roof, and measure the flat part, afterwards divide to get the percentage.
Well, if the perimeter of your house is, say, 30 x 40 foot, then the entire area is 1200 square foot. Now if the flat part of the roof is over an area 20 x 20 foot, then that's 400 square feet. So that flat part of a set would be 33 percent of the roof.

It's just basic math and measure.
An approximation of how much of the roof is flat is fine. 20%, 25%, etc. It's really not THAT big of a deal.

I don't know how to measure the percentage of a flat roof, but they be probably asking you to help determine the rebuild cost.
