Am I man scammed by my insurance company?
I was originally given a quote of $126.00 a month by my car insurance company. I signed up and salaried the first two months of the policy.
Today they called and said they are going to have upcharge the cost by $15 a month ($180 a year) due to my grid position. Isn't this risky? I don't feel like I should hold to pay for their mistake of misquoting me in the instigation. I could have gone with cheaper companies.
Who can I have a chat to? What are my options? Would the BBB (better business bureau) help?
I haven't gotten the paperwork they want me to sign but but if I try to cancel my policy and they say I can't in need paying a charge to them, would that qualify as extortion? Should I seek legal direction?
Any thoughts?

I mis-quoted someone once. He also was charged additional because of my error.
What i did be call the insurance underwriter . Told them that I made a mistake and asked them to "accommodate" me in getting the policy written to my customer as what I quoted him.
Long story short. You can walk to your local ins commissioners office and file a complaint. Ins companies would a bit accommodate $15 bucks than have to deal next to the State.

What we do when we give a quote is ask a series of question regarding past driving violation, and claims. We give them a quote based on this information, but later the policy gets sent to underwriting for review. If the underwriters find the risk is highly developed or if there are tickets or other violations that be not originally caught in the quote, the underwriter will charge an additional premium.
Ask your insurance company why your bill is greater than what they originally quoted you. They should give a specific reason why your premium go up.
