Do I have need of to notify my insurance company that my mileage is increasing?

due to doing unpaid voluntary transporting for local charitable organisations.
Answers:
It depends ...check your insurance policy. Some stipulate that you can simply cover a certain amount of miles in a year.
Make sure you are name by that charitable organization's vehicular insurance on said policy. Most private insurance companies will not cover you while you are acting as a transport, it is considered commercial vehicle use. If you are in an accident and they don't cover flurry like this, they don't have to honor your claim. Check beside your policy and the HR of the orginization.

It's not a matter of milage. It's a matter of coverage.
There is no reason to tell them.

Some insurance companies will present you a break if you drive UNDER a certain amount of miles per year. The only article that will happen is that you will not qualify for this discount the next time you're renewed.

Since you're doing voluntary transportation for a charitable cleaning, the car's use doesn't change to "for business" which is the only entity you should originally be concerned about.

Good Luck.

.
You should but I put on my policy I do 10000 miles a year which I in reality do 15000.
As a courtesy and for your own peace of mind, I'd give 'em a ring, if only to brand sure you're covered for your voluntary work.

Most insurers are only bothered if there's a "significant" increase in your mileage, similar to if you change from your original under-10,000 shopping use to 70,000 a year on the motorway as a rep!
I personal wouldn't bother. unless you have told them what your mileage be or you have told the road tax society then it would be very thorny to prove that you have gone over or not. I normal say aloud i do 12k or 14k and normally do within a 1000 miles of that any over or under. but i never declare my mileage unless 100% needed too.
