Would OBAMA get the impression comfortable if INSURANCE COMPANIES wrote the rules that the latest public plan must follow? Why.?
Why in the world would INSURANCE COMPANIES feel comfortable next to government making the rules for everyone else, while running a competing plan?
HMO's already write the rules for what you have to follow. They can deny your charge, they can increase your costs, they can make you wait for years for prerequisite operations.
Obama isn't interested in varying the rules for HMO's. He doesn't have to. They will change their own rules to compete against other HMO's. That's the together point. Currently, the ONLY rule is that they can charge you whatever they want, they can deny you whenever they feel similar to it. If they had to compete, prices would be lower/benefits increased because they want to keep you as a customer.
No, and neither would the American people. The American people should own a CHOICE, something insurance companies spend hundreds of millions of dollars lobbying against.
"> Mega-corporations would always know what is surrounded by our best interest
Of course not. He wants to control everything and everyone.
I don't get the question.
My view on this is easy......even playing ground for public and private. Set that even playing ground in stone - as rule #1.
Let everyone pick the plan that works for them - public or any of the privates.
Let the competition find the cheapest and best.
LET THE FREE MARKET RULE
If the public plan does best, after the privates will always be there to pick up the slack if it get lazy. If the private plans win, then the public will do one and the same.
The fact that Republicans fear this plan shows that they never really support the free open market -- they just support the people making profits. They are sacrifice our health care for the profits of big insurance. They fright REAL competition.
PS.....the REASON insurers fear competing against Medicare is because Medicare works better than big insurance.
Administration cost:
Medicare: 2%
Insurance: 22 to 25%
What would it cost of big insurance covered Medicare's customers (those people over 65)......almost $12,000 / year....and only 60% would qualify
Medicare covers EVERYONE that age and it averages out to $7,000 per person.
....................
Just imagine how sweet big insurance has it:
1. They only cover us till we are 65 (when it get expensive)
2. They can deny coverage to ANYONE (medicare doesn't)
Yet still.....they are completely inefficient.
Because Obama will fire the current CEOs and put surrounded by puppet figures to lead them.
