How are we suppose to know who is in the wrong or right if we didn't tell us what the positions are of the insurer or the garage. Also whose insurer are we discussion about? The garage's insurer or your insurer?
Why does one of them have to be "within the wrong"?

What insurance pays for, is clearly spelled out in your contract.

If the garage is doing a "good faith" stab to repair the damage you caused when you drove sour the road, then they aren't in the wrong!

If adjectives this is still related to the accident, the insurance should be paying for it. But if it's newly an old car that's wearing out, after neither of them are "in the wrong". Old cars leak grease. They break down. That's part of owning an old saloon.
the insurance company solely pays for repairs, the garage makes the repairs....surely the garage was not rewarded for their services until you were satisfied the assignment was complete
