Why do Americans come across to trust Big Pharma and the Health Insurance companies so much?
Most pharma advances are actually made near the help of government money - at university research labs, using state funds or through NIH grant, or other federal research grants.
I know this for a fact, because I used to work as a "poacher" for a pharma company.
I would pore over a bunch of out-of-the-way medical and chemistry research journals looking for promising research we could hijack.
And we did! Some of the stuff I stole became a top-selling blood pressure medication. We save big on actual development costs by poaching from a series of studies done by universities surrounded by the US, Canada, and the Netherlands.
Big pharma is the biggest scam out there - and I say this as a former insider! Some of the scummiest folks I met contained by my life were sale reps.
And don't get me started on the insurance companies... they are there to screw you over as much as the statute allows. Never forget that. If you cost too much, they'd simply rather have you insensible.
Why do Americans seem to put so much trust into what are fundamentally amoral, scummy, untrustworthy private companies?
This never really made sense to me. I'm an American, but I'm realistic almost these people.

OK here is why I trust big Pharma more than I trust the command.
Someone in business knows the cost of doing it wrong and drug companies are powerfully aware if something goes wrong they will be held accountable for their mistakes contained by law suits.
So therefore they own to do the job right. They also know the potential of new drugs bringing it to marketplace will increase their bottom line.
Yet when people sue them they stop the R&D and as far as university go they get their funded from Big Pharam.
I did work surrounded by the R&D in several Big Pharam and other sites.
Those guys are working their tail off to solve the problems but citizens like you who never step into a lab or in production facility own not clue what it takes to put a drug on the market.
How tons drugs don't make it to market because of the potential of cause deaths.
You do have the Obama rant against companies down but no clue of what you speak which is typical.
Drugs are a scam - 90% of drugs don't work as advertised, and if they do because they are modelled on things that be originally "alternative" (like asparin! or "gasp" exercise and nutrition.)
People need to take their healthcare surrounded by their own hands, and see Chiropractors, acupuncturists, massage therapist and dieticians to stay healthy, rather than play fence in up and mask symptoms after they are sick. Source(s): Chiropractor 13 years.
I don't regard its a matter of people trusting condition insurance and pharmaceuticals so much; it's a matter of people trusting system so little.
amen to that, and doctors are tied into the pharm co. pushing the latest point when the older drugs work better with smaller quantity side effects. the drugs i have to take cost thousands a year. beside no work out there i am tempted to stop taking everything and consent to nature take its course

There was a company in the ending year or two that intentionally overcharged the Gov't/Medicare to the tune of 670 million. Great job!

It seems most those just go around life not really thinking for themselves.They go to the doctor, trust them blindly because they are professionals and appropriate anything the doctor gives them.
Those drugs they give out are not well-mannered for you at all and neither are the vaccines. All contain poisons.
