Can condition insurance company drop you if you making COBRA payments in good time?
My sister is in a nursing home. I have be paying her COBRA since
December. The nursing home called and "warned" us to find a medicaid facility because her health insurance will probably drop her.
Why?
Answers:
She only has 18 months of coverage underneath Cobra. When that runs out, they drop her.
OR, if her employer drops the plan, goes out of business, or goes broke. Although I have no idea how the nursing home inhabitants would know that.
Once she's dropped, you're not going to find private coverage for her - it would only be Medicaid or Medicare.
She's not losing her vigour insurance. Health Insurance doesn't pay for nursing homes beyond a handful of days.
You need long permanent status care insurance if you want nursing homes to be covered. It's too late for her since she's within one, but that's why the nursing home is telling you what they're telling you.
Most individuals without long term watchfulness insurance are private paying their care until their assets are wiped out and next they go on Medicaid (Welfare).
She'll still need the form insurance for doctors, hospitalizations, medications, etc...but you'll need another source to take-home pay for the nursing home.
I do not believe this is a COBRA interrogate but an allowed coverage situation.
Medical insurance covers treatment expenses, such as for physical therapy or other skilled care when a being is in a nursing home, as long as they are making continuous improvement.
When a personage is no longer improving but still needs assistance this is call custodial care and is not covered by medical insurance or Medicare. Source(s): Experience with medical insurance
