$200 from insurance company, cost more than 700 to fix!!?
My best friend was in a coup¨¦ accident a little over a week ago. He be driving to work early in the morning, slid on rime, and almost went off the road. A can come up from behind him, couldn't stop and hit him, pushing him into a ditch. The man got out of his vehicle, apologized, said he tried to stop. The officer came along, asked if he had any injuries and if he think there is damage to the front of the saloon. He then called a wrecker, to own him pulled out of the ditch ($75). The officer determined that noone was at fault, the stroke of luck was due to bad weather.
We obtain a copy of the police report, and it states that he was in the ditch back the car rear terminated him! The officer must have been going by what the other guy said, as he did not carry asked his side.
The other guys insurance is now refusing to recompense for the front end damage, single for the rear bumper. They gave a check for $200, when the lowest estimate he get was more than 700!
Does this sound right to anyone?
Sounds right. Insurance companies will cheat you every chance they get.
Yes it sounds right if he has a $500 deductible, which most empire do Source(s): I am an insurance agent
Tell your friend to be in motion back to the police station and AMEND the police report. That means they will write contained by her/his statement and attach it to the report, if not just add on it in. Due to the fact that the report indicates it be due to bad weather, you can now sue the town. They ruined to provide safe towns. I don't know what state you are from or your laws but a town is a state entity. So they crash down under other rules. So you would have to put them on thought. In NJ, we file the "Notice of Claim pursuant to Title 59" within 90 days from the twist of fate or it will be barred for them to be sued.
As for injuries, pursue a claim.
Tell your friend to hire a lawyer, they catch paid if you get salaried. So technically, you have nothing to lose. If you stir to lawyers.com, you can look up personal injury attorneys with accurate ratings. Source(s): paralegal in a personal injury firm.
The other guy's insurance company is not going to simply pony up as much as they possibly can. The $200 is what they are offering to reward voluntarily. If your friend thinks he is entitled to more, than he should start proceedings to sue the other driver. He can try to do it himself, or he can get a legal representative. The other driver will then tender the defense to the insurance company and your friend can either negotiate or help yourself to it to trial. If it was his own insurance company, the approach would be different, but I go amiss to understand why people expect an paradoxical party or that party's insurance company to simply roll over and play dead.
"> time to cooperate to a lawyer
