Got into a sports car calamity, have problems near insurance company.?

Last year i got into a car chance after which a cop came and he said that he will not file a police report as long as I pay cheque the owner of the car i damaged. Well I made an illicit turn and the guy was speeding and hit me, but the cop said it was my quirk, plus i stupidly did not have insurance.

Anyway afterwards I paid him an agreed $2k for damages and he wrote out a contract and signed clich¨¦ that he will not pursue for damages from there on out.

Today i got a missive in the mail from his insurance company wise saying that they are seeking reimbursement from me because theyre repairing his car. I dont know why theyre contacting me so Id like to know what my option are and my rights.

Please dont preach about how i shouldnt have be driving, ive definatly learned my lesson and at this point am just trying to concord with the problem. So again, please let me know what my rights and option are I would appreciate it so much.

WHAT SHOULD I DO??!!

i may be wrong but i believe the policeman be supposed to file a police report regardless of how the car be to be repaired, with personal cash or an insurance settlement. do you hold a copy of the signed agreement. you could contact the insurance regulatory agency in your state and tell them you own already paid the damages, if you have proof that you remunerated the man. and how is he going to collect from you when there was not even a police report. something really sounds grotesque about how that was adjectives handled. you may need to call for an attorney and get some free over the phone advice. it may not be worth it to hire an attorney unless you are something like to get into some big trouble. i reread your question and i am still a bit confused but if you own a copy of the signed agreement, and there is truly no police report, i just don't see how you can be liable. do you hold proof that you paid him. i hope you can get it adjectives worked out.
You just inevitability to fax them a copy of the contract and hopefully you have a copy of the check/money order you compensated him. I won't preach, that sucks that this is happening a year later. Is this guy trying to commit fraud? Did he of late file a claim recently for the calamity that happened a year ago? No police report? you have no concept what he's talking about....
I'd start by sending a copy of the contract to the insurance company. Tell them their client made this agreement with you and they will have to sue you to collect anything above, and beyond what their client agreed to adopt as payment in full.

See where on earth that gets you.
I would consult a legal aid clinic or a pro-bono attorney who specializes in accident. Sometimes as a matter of protocol, insurance companies have to dispatch letters stating the reimbursement. While *HE* may not pursue damages, the insurance company can, and it looks as if they are doing that.

However, I would consult a legal clinic or a pro-bono attorney so that you are made aware of what rights you own. I also hope that you've since purchased auto insurance. I've been hit by an uninsured driver before, and because of that, *MY* insurance rates skyrocketed because of the mischief done to my car.

Uninsured drivers affect the drivers they hit in more ways than merely damage to their cars and medical bills, they also cause our rates to move about up for something that they wasn't even their fault. It's been 4 years and I'm still paying for it :-(
