My coup¨¦ be rear-ended over a month ago. I get a check from other insurers insurance company....?
Can I keep the check. It was made out a moment ago in my name. I go to a repair shop nearly a month ago, and they said they would order parts, and call me to hold me drop off car I agreed, but when I get this check for 4,000.00 three weeks ago, I have been conflict with myself as to whether or not to get coup¨¦ fixed. I own the vehicle and can live with the small amount of damage (mostly cosmetic). Am I grateful to the repair shop, even though it has been almost a month, and I havent hear anything from them. Will I have to pay them anything for order parts, if they are looking for some money from me? What would you do?
Answers:
Apparently an insurance adjuster or independent adjuster has seen your vehicle and submitted the claim to the insurance company. You also have apparently accepted the claim agreement and amount. The insurance company is lone olbligated to pay you the cost of repairs, wether you to choose to spend the settlement on actually fixing the coup¨¦ is entirely up to you.
As far as the repair shop goes, you may be charged a restocking fee as others hold mentioned. But if they have failed to win back with you, after I feel they dropped the ball and you shouldn't be obligated to pay cheque them anything.
as long as you own the car outright, you can keep the money if you choose to. i would christen the repair shop and let them know you wont be in as a courtesy, so if you ever call for to use them in the future you haven't burned a bridge. Source(s): agent
Go to the shop and discuss it with them as for the parts - there might be a small charge for a restocking duty. other wise the money is yours. You are being straight forward and honest and will consistency better about it all. virtuous luck
If you accept a settlement from the Insurance company and lolly the check and then don't fix the car you own just committed insurance fraud and that is a felony.
If you have the shop order parts you have an agreement beside them and may owe them something if the parts have been ordered, so give the name them.
As far as your car goes, is within a finance company involved? If so, you will need to any pay it off, or fix it. If the saloon is yours, you own it outright, you can do as you please with the money you were rewarded for your loss. You can put it in the bank or spend it, or jump buy another car. Your choice.
in good health shop around and find out who is the cheapest to get it fixed and go to them after anything you have left over is yours ive done that a few times myself.
Well, as long as you did not sign anything near the auto body, you do not have to get your sports car repaired. I think the auto body will be a bit miffed, but they will likely of late send the parts back. It is the cost of doing business. One piece of note, if for some reason your vehicle is repossessed by your lien holder(assuming their is a lien), you will own to have the damages repaired. Otherwise, the money is yours to keep. Your choice, but remember..A body shop gives only a cosmetic estimate unless their competent to do a tear down. If you don't return to the body shop & they already ordered parts...they have an resort to charge a 'restocking fee'. If you have your own insurance, go through them and convey the check back to the liable parties company. Otherwise, phone up the body shop and talk with them, gross sure before you make your result. the repair shop can return the parts if needed. If they cross-question you - say "I waited over a month to hear from you - I already have the vehicle repaired elsewhere." You are entitled to that check if it is in just your dub.
