Do medical insurance companies bill you and show you exactly what you be prescribed?
for example
i kno someone who wants to get birth control pills
and she requests to use her insurance to get them
but she doesnt want her parents to find out
will they?
Answers:
mine doesn't, but it might be different with another insurance company and/or doctor
Depends on the Doctors office.
Usually a Bill will come in the e-mail and say she had a pelvic exam. Then the insurance will dispatch an EOB -explaining how much of the bill was covered. The only piece she might be able to do is ask the doctors office to convey the paperwork in her name.
Usually the birth controls pills won't show on the bill because she picked them up and salaried for them.
Neither the insurance company nor the doctor can disclose the name of the drug that the daughter have received to the parents. She is protected by HIPPA laws that are designed to protect her privacy.
Be aware however that a lot of companies will not take-home pay for birth control for dependent children. If she goes to the doctor only to enjoy it prescribed and it is not covered by the plan she will receive and explanation of benefits that says something along the line of "The planned condition is not covered for dependent children" and that may cause the parents to start asking questions of the child.
