How much does a Cadillac converter cost? And, nouns I report it to the insurance company?

I busted a hose on my radator (which I didn't know at the time) so I left the car until I could acquire it towed away. When I returned someone had stolen my cadillac converter out of my car (which again I found out later). How much does one cost? What should I do? And, should I report it to the insurance company self as though the parts and the macanic work would probably be outragous? Please help me I really don't know much about cars and I don't want to attain taken buy an auto part. Thanks

What model and year of your caddy?
It's a catalytic converter, and they are expensive since they contain precious metals (platinum) which is why people steal them. You insurance probably won't cover the loss, but telephone and ask to make sure.

Generally parts alone will set you back $300 to $500
It's not that weird. Criminals are stealing catalytic converters for the significance of the metals inside them, metal prices are at an all-time high. Definitely report it to the police. They will probably tell you that a integral bunch of converters have been stolen. Nobody steals ONE catalytic converter. There's a crime ring nearby, and somewhere a scrap dealer is working beside them.

Insurance will deal with fixing it, travel with one of the shops they recommend.
Hard to believe someone stole a catalytic converter but if they did report it first to the police and next to your insurance company. Insurance won't pay without a police report
I thought that it be a catholic converter? No, it's a catalytic converter.

The cost varies by make and model. It's extremely strange that only that one part be stolen. If you report it, it's going to have 'fraud' flags all over that claim. Source(s): agent, 21+ years
