Cutting my own tree down and hitting my house. Is it covered by house insurance?

I was cutting some trees down and bounced one bad the house. I'll have to see if there be any damage; would that be covered by insurance should something be royally messed up or is it tough luck?

Thanx

tough crap dear. insurance fraud usually is frowned upon....
It would have to be classified as a covered peril. Examples of viable tree perils are twist, lighting, falling objects. Cutting down your own tree is not a covered peril.

The adjuster will probably figure it out if you make a claim.
Don't lie something like what happened. Turn the claim in, update the truth, and see if the insurance company will pay. Two weeks ago, I had a client call for me, and he had done the same entry you did. We filed the claim with the company, and much to my surprise, it be covered. I can't guarantee your company will cover this claim, but its worth a shot.
if you did this on purpose, then its not covered.

but, i doubt you did this conscious.

so you should be ok.....

as far as committing fraud...dont do it...why expose yourself to jail for just a few thousand or smaller amount!
Any injure the tree does to your house, is covered, subject to your deductible. It's considered a falling object.

I'm assuming, of course, you hold a standard HO3 type homeowners policy. Source(s): agent, 21+ years
dont risk it, tell them it fell in final nights storm.
