Does an insurance company (travelers) enjoy a time frame to settle a house fire claim?

Answers: I don't know what the time frames are for travelers insurance but there are specific time frames for file the claim, notifying them of your fire etc. If you have have a fire you need to call your agent straight to get the specifics for your situation.
Any company have the duty to investigate and pay any claim in a "justifiable period". Now reasonable period is a subjective permanent status, but Travelers is a very good company. If you are have trouble with the adjuster, then send for the company and find out who the adjusters manager is and discuss the time frame issues with him/her.

As an adjuster myself, I know I want to capture the claim settled and out of my pending as soon as possible. If there is a hang-up, it is usually any something suspicious or the insured not providing necessary information.

Talk with your adjuster or the boss and stay involved surrounded by the claim process. Don't waste your time with the agent. They hold no input in the claim process, and most don't even know what they are selling. Source(s): B.Rice 20 year insurance professional.
Nothing set in stone, however, you should get an mortgage within a week or so, and usually the claim is settled within 4-6 weeks.

As long as the fire isn't suspicious contained by nature, then usually the biggest holdup is 1. getting a copy of the fire report from the fire department and 2. getting the index of personal property damaged from the insured.

If you are having problems or question with your claim, you should talk to your agent. Travelers is pretty pious about claims, and the agents should really be holding your hand through this time. Source(s): agent, 20+ years
