Do you reckon that the taxpayer should foot the bill for those who didn't procure house insurance?

in the recent floods here in the U.K.

It does seem unreasonable, but not everyone can afford to pay for insurance to cover their home contents.. !!.. xx
No. would the rates payer pay for new things to budge in my house if i was burgled and didnt hold insurance, i think not.
I don't think so...
I think our senate should fork more out
If they can't cover it without raising taxes consequently they should temporarily stop giving 'aid' to other countries until our own problem is sorted.
well no but its the bearing it is im afraid.
I feel really strongly about this. I have to wage building and contents Insurance to make sure I'm covered in luggage anything untoward happens, and I feel drastically angry about idiots who don't bother. Same goes for society who drive around without insurance. They don't think something like others who have to suffer loss if there's an accident.
no way if the government do that after where do you draw the line . what is to stop others who enjoy say a fire or a burst water container but have no insurance going to the government and aphorism " well if you paid for them you should salary for me"

more worrying what if it makes some people stop paying their insurance. make them a danger to the rest of us doesnt it.
No they shouldn't, but they will!
Surely that kind of flooding is classed as "an act of God" so no-one is covered?
No, but it happens ALL THE TIME in the US---
working associates who do what they are supposed to have to pay for the idiots who deny to be responsible....
OK. Some of those citizens have lost everything and have be completely wiped out; their lives ruined. This is the worst kind of luck that I would not preference on any decent person. But the certainty is, you make your own luck in this world and if you founder to insure your property because you want the money for something else, then that is a chosen bridle path and you have no right to expect anybody else to bail you out. I make sacrifice to insure my property and I resent any suggestion that my hard-earned money should be spent on what, frankly, is sheer fecklessness.
