My moped be stolen inside my house. Should my rental insurance rate for it?

Answers: Home and tenant insurance policies don't cover vehicles that are subject to registration as road vehicle. If you have insurance on the mo-ped, you claim on it. If you don't have insurance on the mo-ped, it is lately plain gone. If your sofa was stolen from your driveway, your auto insurance wouldn't pay for it, by the means of access, and this is the same idea. It isn't of late the place something was stolen from it is the type of item as well.
Nope. You will enjoy to claim it under your comprehensive coverage on the Moped -- (if you have it--). It is no different if a sports car were stolen from your garage.
Huggybearbaby,
I'm sorry for your loss. I know how invasive it feels to have something stolen in your own home. Unfortunately renters' policies specifically exclude coverages for any vehicles. The intent behind this is that auto insurance is available to cover this type of loss. If you do own auto insurance on the moped, and if you have comprehensive coverage, the theft loss would be covered. Source(s): Myself as a licensed property and casualty insurance agent
Thats a damn good question. What does it vote?

1) If you have vehicle insurance, that is the place to start if you own coverage for theft. If not;

2) Contact your home insurance agent and discuss the matter. Ask if a bicycle would be covered if it be stolen. If the answer is no then you are likely scr*wed. But if it would be covered, next you will need to stress the fact that it is more of a bicycle later a motorcycle. In the long run, the way the DMV in your state define a moped may be the deciding factor.

3) Whichever way it go, if you replace it you will need to re-think your insurance needs base on what happens here.

Good luck.....

.
Your homeowner's/renter's policy? It may cover it, since it is personal property, unless you had insurance on the moped (like auto). You may call for to review your homeowner's policy to determine if motorized vehicles, like a moped, are excluded - you can other call your agent to confirm as well.
Did you own insurance on the moped? If so, that would be the place to start. If not, I have no idea if the rental insurance would reimburse for it or not, I would tend to doubt it though, since it isn't your normal furnishing. Call them and ask.
The only passageway to know for sure is ask but its extremely unlikely since its not a "household" item.

Insurance companies protect themselves from claim such as this
No it will not be covered by your rental insurance. Motorized vehicle SUBJECT to motor vehicle registration are specifically excluded on the policy. So, even it is NOT currently registered, there would not be any coverage for it on your rental insurance. If you wanted it to be covered for embezzlement, you would have had to enjoy a motorcycle policy on it, including comprehensive coverage.
