Basement flooded at the house we rent. I do not enjoy renters insurance - Landlord responsible contained by anyway?

Our basement flooded last Monday when the storms hit the east coast. We be getting ready to move (for May) so I had the majority of my belongings busy in the corner of the basement. Half is ruined. Our tenant called to let us know Monday morning around 10am, we have all left to progress to work. He sid he had stopped by early that morning when I talk to him in the afternoon to let him know it be flooded. I wish he would have agree to us know about the possibility of flooding prior. I do not have renters insurance. Is he responsible for any of the costs for replacement? Whould it be covered below his house insurance? Looking for any help. Thanks
Answers:
Your personal belongings have need of to be covered by renters insurance. His home insurance only covers for structural things.

Sorry. He's not responsible at all.
No. Your stuff cannot be replaced at his expense. We've tried that and failed. We could have sued him if it be anything else. You also learn to ask questions similar to that.

Moral of the story: get insurance regardless of how much you think you don't want it.
Check your lease for what he might be responsible for -- it should own something in there roughly property damage. Most standard leases disclaim responsibility and require renter's insurance though.

However, everyone know that basements can flood in springtime, so if you wind up contained by claims count, I don't think they will buy the idea of you anyone unaware of the danger. His home insurance might cover the devastate, but if it's a rental property, it likely will have a clause just about damage to renter's property that specifically excludes him from responsibility.
I am sorry for your loss, but I don't see why the hotelier would be responsible. Don't you have access to the same weather info he does, how close you are to a river, etc. ?
it depends if your landlord has an sponsorship on his home owners policy to covers renters property.....even if he does ...the insurance agent will investigate to determine if any payment needs to be made for your shabby property.... you will have to ask your landlord....
As for your belonging no...The interrupt is done and he is not responsible for you things....because you did not have rental insurance...But the damages that the basement ride out does not fall on you either....you should procure your security deposit in full.....as for his own house insurance you can ask him if he is prepared to claim that the item damage where his and his insurance company will pass him money to re compensate damages.. if he is will to commit insurance fraud, you can get some money back through him...but to be exact a very iffy idea
Did you have access to the vault? If you do, then I don't think here is much you can do. If you can go down there anytime, lacking your landlord having to offer you access, then your belongings were your responsibility.
If your tenant needed to open the basement and wouldn't/couldn't come to tolerate you in, then you might enjoy something there and would want to talk to a legal representative.
Under his insurance just his building wear 7 shred or building damage is covered. If you did not have insurance find out from local authority they own several kinds of help for associates.
He will get money for his repairs.

Once it happened contained by Longueuil, Quebec.Canada. It was just mild Storm. my subterranean vault tenant things got spoiled she had insurance where on earth she was running home day perfectionism. for 15 days day care be closed her insurance company gave her money for that & all the things. It be only few streets where it happend we asked for despoil from the city because the drains were not taking water. City replied they do not enjoy to pay anything.

IF WATER CAME OUT FROM THE DRAIN IT WAS DEFECT OF YOUR CONDTRUCTION WHY IN YOUR DRAINAGE WATER LEVEL DETECTOR WAS PLACED. SO THAT WATER DOES NOT COME OUT FROM THE DRAIN AFTER A DEFINITE LEVEL
