Do I have need of insurance to guide at home?

I'm thinking about giving some music lessons from home to boost my income, would I necessitate special insurance - and would it affect my mortgage?
Answers:
It have nothing to do with your mortgage, as for the liability, you can incorporate an endorsement to your homeowners policy to allow liability coverage for incidental teacher liability. Unless you own income of 5,000 to10,000 per year this should be adequate. Talk with your home insurance agent. Good Luck.
You cannot cover the liability for this risk under your homeowners insurance policy!!
The liability for your homeowners insurance covers if people stop by you and something happens, but not if you are conducting a "business" out of your home.
The type of policy you want to get is a commercial policy for General Liability. I would suggest you carry $1,000,000 per occurrence coverage.
Most brokerage companies, or surplus line broker will hold a market for this.
Since you are going to be considered under the category "teaching/school", it might be a short time tricky to find a carrier.
I suggest you google surplus line brokers contained by your area and contact them. Its very esteemed that you carry this liability, just surrounded by case that you get sued by one of your students. Especially historic since you are conducting this business out of your home.
Will not have anything to do with your mortgage.
It should not affect your mortgage unless you are running a full time business from your home. You should increase your liability coverage and maybe look at an umbrella policy since you have an increased liability exposure (to protect you if someone say they got hurt coming to your home for lessons). Talk to your agent. Important to do before you start to numeral out the increased cost and adjust your rates to cover this business expense.
I contemplate that you may need some kind of public liability within case of an accident
