Answers: I'm not sure if this rule varies from state to state but I am sure it does. I know that here in Ohio if you rent a house surrounded by order to be covered for your belongings in a house fire you enjoy to possess renters insurance. Even when you rent an apartment here nothing is covered unless you have your own private renters insurance policy. Home owners should cover the building....the walls, the roof. Everything that burns up contained by your home, though, should be covered under a renter's policy that you buy.
