I'm 18, getting my GED. and living at home. will I still be on my parents strength insurance?

Hey, I'll be turning 18 in about three weeks. I'm planning on getting my GED and I'm a junior contained by HS. I wouldn't be starting college till at least the fall (September, and its December now) My cross-question is, would i still be on my parents health insurance as I am not in institution?? Thanks.

Well, if you can prove you are in academy, then you can still keep the insurance once you turn 18, save, then you will be canceled..
Most insurance companies allow children to stay on a parent's policy through college age (21, 22?) as long as they are in school. There usually isn't a "time out" on the policy for waiting for college to start. Since this is for a moment longer than the summer break, I would call the insurance company and find out the policy and to what age you can stay on the policy.
as long as you let them claim you on their income due, but if so it ruins your chances of getting financial aid, if they make too much, until your 23 birthday.
Check with your parents' insurance company. Some insurance companies will cover you until you lawfully become an adult, graduate from high university or college. What I mean by legally an fully fledged is that you could be emancipated before 18 years of age, when you turn 18 or 21, or when you are no longer a dependent of your parents money-wise.
It is worthy and mature for you to be thinking about form insurance. But I'm curious why you are posting on a forum about this. Shouldn't your parents be the ones you talk to first? And not a forum?

Talk to your parents today. They are the ones paying for your insurance policy. They will be glad you be mature enough to settle to them about it. Most insurance policies will continue to cover students on their parents policy into a child's rash 20s. The insurance company has no way of monitoring whether or not you are contained by school, so it is completely up to your parents reporting you as a dependent, and paying on the policy.

Best wishes. Source(s): http://www.health-insurance-low-cost.net… - my site

Depends on the insurance plan. Most plans cut off at 18, possibly 19 unless you're a full time college student, then it can go anywhere from 21 to 25.

You'd own to have your parents ask their particular coverage provider
From what I've read, starting contained by 2008, most policies that cover minor children will only cover 19-23 year olds if they are a full time student at a registered secondary university. That means that online or part time courseware does NOT count.

But its up to your individual insurance company..

Call them immediately and ask so you can prepare in either satchel.

Good Luck

Health insurance rules vary by state, and it may depend on the type of insurance your parents have.

One online resource you may want to check out is www.lawhelp.org, because it have state-by-state directories of information and free resources related to health care and vigour insurance, including telephone advice services.

If you jump to the main page, select your state and then any click on the link to health information or type the word "health" into the rummage box. Each state page should have links to information about pedagogic resources, advocacy organizations and organizations offering counsel or other assistance. Source(s): http://www.lawhelp.org/
being contained by school has zilch to do with it. Your 18 already and the insurance company will take you stale if they haven't already.so no you will not be on their health insurance. it all have to do with your age.
You should be. Most insurance companies will allow your children to remain a dependent until they're 21 but enjoy to be enrolled in college. If you're concerned, ask your parents.
depends on the insurance...some will cover you till your 21 as long as you are considered a dependent... others will drop you as soon as your are not in school.... your best bet is to alway be registered for commuinty college classes.
nope :) at least i don't think so. the cutoff may be 19?
Nope. Finish college.
It depends on the insurance company. ask your parents or hold them call the insurance company to find out.
They own to call the insurance company but I believe you can be on it untill 21
if u want to be
It depends on their insurance company. Most however, allow children to be on the poilcy until age 22 and then they start asking for transcripts to make sure that youre within school. As long as there's not too much of a gap between when you return with your GED and when college starts, you should be fine.
Of course, you have until you are about 23 or so, but you can ask them if you are unsure.
Probably not...your parents need to contact their insurance company as soon as possible and see if you can be extended...but once you turned 18 and departed school, most will terminate you.
depends on the company, most of them can hold you on there till 25 years of age. simply call the company and ask
If you progress to college AND CAN PROVE FULL TIME ENROLLMENT you can stay on your parents health insurance but other than that no they can not cary you anymore but near most options after high academy they provide insurance... military full time job... those types of things all come next to those benefits
