Are HOME insurance premiums superior if you live close to a small airport?

We are considering having a house built in a neighborhood to be exact near a small airport. There are only single engine planes and helicopters flying within and out of this airport and noise isn't really an issue. I was wondering if home insurance for this house would be high because of the location however. Does anybody know if this is true?

A standard homeowners application asks if your home is within 300 feet of a non-residential property. I own never heard of anyone being turned down for mortal close to an airport but I have had insureds turned down for person next to a bar
Yeah. Higher risk of a plane crashing into your house.
Nope, distance to/from an airport isn't a rating factor that *I* have ever see. Source(s): agent, 21+ years
Your premiums are base on a number of factors, including things close to how close you live to a fire station, fire hydrant, etc. I have to believe the proximity to things like an airport, landfill, etc. hold to impact the rates as well. Call your home owners insurance and ask!
As long as you house is not PART of the airport, no.

If you have some type of fly-in house with your own private hanger or your own private landing strip, then you'll want specialty coverage. If it's a standard house on a standard lot then a regular homeowners policy should do the trick; I've never seen any underwrite rules concerning proximity to an airport. Good luck.
