Does haveing a fireplace within a brand new home effect your insurance, if so, how so?? where on earth can i procure info?
Answers: Generally, the insurance quotes I got when I was looking at a home beside a fireplace were higher than the quotes I get on a house that didn't have one. I would also check to see what possible damages caused by the fireplace would be covered underneath your policy.
The house we got didn't have a fireplace, but it did enjoy solar panels. The homeowners insurance companies that I called adjectives said that they do not cover roof/water damage if the cause could be traced to the solar panel. So, I'd check to see roughly speaking coverage of the chiminey etc.
Also, if the house has a basement, draw from complete coverage there. Where we live, I had to purchase extra insurance to cover the underground room and its contents.
I have lived surrounded by my home for 11 years. It was not new when I purchased it, but it does hold a fireplace. I do not recall any added insurance due to having a fireplace. Laws may come and go by state and insurance companies.
Some companies do charge a slightly higher rate for having a fireplace. Every company is different so I'm not sure within is anywhere you can go for info. You may want to try a website that compares multiple companies at once to get you the best price. I am paying smaller amount than 1/2 after I did.
