Does my home insurance cover flooding?

Most Home Insurance Policies do not cover flooding from external sources. You would need flood insurance.

If your water pipes break and the underground store floods from something within the house and damage is incurred afterwards most regular home insurance polices will cover this type of event.

But, if water from an outside source like a river, heavily built rains/storm flood your house then most home insurance polices will not cover the water wreckage. In this case you would need flood insurance.

It depends on where the marine is coming from. Usually flood is considered any water coming into the house from the ground, and is not covered under a homeowner's policy. That includes hose rising from a lake, river, etc - or even water that pools up outside from thickset rains and comes into the home. This kind of disrupt would be covered under a Flood Policy.

It depends on how you describe flooding. If you imply a water coming from a broken water pipe--your policy would probably cover it. If it is rainfall damage, depending on your policy--it might cover that too. If a river is overflowing then not usually.

Most homeowners insurance policies do not cover flooding. Look at your sponsorship section of your policy.
