Question for home owners insurance adjuster?

On March 14th my family home burned. We were put out into a hotel for 11 days, and immediately the insurance has set us up in a rental house near very basic things. They give us an advance on out property loss, of $2000. We went through that within just a few days with intake out and buying new clothes, shoes, and coats. We also lost all of our vehicle, to include my Harley-Davidson. The insurance paid us out for those, but we had to spend every penny and more on unmarked cars. I still haven’t replaced my bike, as that isn’t as important. But I want to save the insurance money for that eventual purchase.

My cross-examine is; how long will it be before I start seeing some money from the insurance company? I am broke. Restarting a life for 5 inhabitants from scratch is expensive and I am tapped out. I hold burned through a big chunk of my savings and am nearly to a place where I will enjoy to start tapping into my Harley money.

If I don’t start seeing some money soon, I will be in financial ruin.
Answers:
OK, you didn't requirement to buy new cars. But.

The auto policy has compensated you for the vehicles. The house, well, aside from the contents finance you received, they will, at the very least, requirement to wait for the fire marshall's report, and the estimate to fix the house. Usually, this is four to six weeks, UNLESS arson is suspected.

They will pay the LESSER of cost to repair, or policy aim, IF YOU WERE FULLY INSURED. If you were underinsured, you won't see the full amount.

If you already bought brand new cars, ably, the second you buy them, they depreciate about 20%. You do the math on that. I WOULD suggest cutting into the Harley money.

Your agent should know how to tell you if the house is a total loss, and if it isn't, if you were insured to advantage. Or, if you had replacement cost on the contents. They might also be able to shake out another $5,000 advance, HOWEVER, this is just an ADVANCE, and just on your contents. But they SHOULD be able to get the loss of use covered.

Keep within mind, in that rental, you can't keep drinking out. Food is a NORMAL expense. You'll have to buy and cook. If you USUALLY eat out, later you don't have a coverable extra expense on the claim.

YOUR AGENT is your best source of advice here.
You should hire a public adjuster - They know the system and know how to get advanced payments.
That's up to you. The insurance company give you some property forms to fill out. If you filled them out and give them to the adjuster, you should be seeing at least a portion in the subsequent week or two. The list should have be what you had, it's age, and how much it was worth. The adjuster have to input into their system, and will pay at least a portion of it inside a few weeks after they get it.

As to your ALE (additional living expense), give the adjuster receipts for the ingestion out, etc, and then they can pay you for what you spent. Realize that you one and only get that amount over what you usually spend. Let's say that your groceries cost $20 per sunshine, but because you had to eat out you spent $100 per afternoon. You would get $80

So...make sure you gain the adjuster what they have asked for, so that they can get you compensated.

By the way, a public adjuster does not make it faster, in truth makes it slower Source(s): Property claims adjuster/manager 30 years+
