Should smokers be required to transport private form insurance and forfeit medicare/medicaid assistance?
Smoking is the choice of the smoker. They risk cancer. Should they also carry the financial risk as well?

You cannot single out any specific group short running the risk of law suit. While many communities hold been able to intrude restrictions on where people can smoke it is a different story to try and deny someone medical assistance specifically free to some because they do not smoke. If you use your system not only would you have to apply it to smokers but also to nation who work jobs known to be more death-defying then others because they are choosing to work that job. Also the sun can incentive forms of skin cancer so should people who voluntarily go outside be required to transport private insurance?
oh yeah...and to put in to the answer above..... People who drive and talk on cell phones; have unprotected sex; don't look both ways when they cross at cross walk; and those that do drugs.
Think of it this way...we're saving Social Security! Growing matured and dying in a nursing home with dementia is waaay over rate dear!

Why did you leave your job out fat people? They pig out by choice, and run up as oodles health care bills as smokers.
Also. Don't forget roughly drug addicts, alcoholics,gay people, ethnic group who get speeding tickets, people who live surrounded by crime infested neighborhoods, jay walkers, or any other high risk group.
I smoke but I also take-home pay 100's of dollars monthly for 2 different insurances so, that is purely my business. However, I'm happy when the price of cigarettes stir up because it gets me closer to quitting. If I were required to take some special "smokers insurance" and my regular insurances quit covering smoking related illnesses....I would quit IMMEDIATELY. Yea, they should do it.
EDIT: you specifically asked about smokers...not all other choice relateover the moonth issues....so, to address your other answers ...yea, fat people obligation to chill on the double doubles w/ cheese as bad as I need to put my smokes down so let make them carry "I won't stop eating" insurance too...it's a win-win adjectives the way around! Nobody will have money for overeating or smoking coz they're paying ridiculous insurance premiums.

I don't smoke but I have seen some pretty controlling attitudes where on earth smokers are concerned. Let's not forget the freedom America is supposed to stand for and stop trying to require others to make the same choices as we do.
In my opinion I have an idea that that we should spend less money on medicaid anyway. Hey he wants to die permit him why should we spend money trying to keep him alive when he is dead anyway.
