When are you supposed to put your infant on your condition insurance?

I'm due in about 3 weeks and I wasn't sure when you should do this. I assume beforehand, incase (G-d forbid) something wants to be done right away. But I have no idea how this works. Thanks.
I am due in April and our little one will be covered under us for the first 31 days and we have 31 days to trailer her to our policy! Call your insurance company and check out what you need to do!
My health insurance automatically added her at birth since they know I was preg. I they are covering your ob visits they usually automaticaly affix them when they here from the hospital about the birth. I would call them though and find out a moment ago in case because as soon as your babys born your pediatrician comes to evaluate your tot and charges a fortune for doing so.
No, you can't until the tot is born. At least not here in Oklahoma. They will in general let you fill out the paperwork surrounded by the hospital and then most insurance companies will cover. back to the date of birth for the babe. I think for anything to become official that you enjoy to have proof of live birth first. Either a copy of the birth certificate or a SSN. Some companies will hold formal letters from the hospital. You should go and pre-register at the hospital if you haven't already. This will form paperwork easier when you do go into labor and they can give you the best info on what is pleasing for your specific insurance company.

Good luck and congrats!
i think when theyre born because you have to thieve them to the doc and get shots and everything when theyre born.ask your doc
you have 30 days from after the birth of your child to make a payment them to your insurance policy.
FYI your baby's SSN wont come in for about 10-14 weeks (and im not kidding) it took me give or take a few 10 weeks to get the one for my son. but when you are adding your child to your insurance you dont entail the social security number, when you get it dont forget to contact your insurance and afford it to them. We just have a baby on Feb 19th and the baby is covered lower than your insurance for the first 30 days and with in that time of year you need to add them to your insurance.
"> I have all the paperwork filled out previously my daughter was born, but they need proof of labour to actually add her. Using paperwork given by our DR it be all legit within the first week. We did though receive bills for her the few days following her birth, we simply called and explained things to them. congrats! Have fun!
Immediately. Most policies hold you complete a form to add them, if not back then after and then the policy is retroactive from the time that they were born.
Typically, newborn babies are covered underneath the mother's insurance coverage for the first 30 days after birth. During that 30 day time period, you will have need of to add your baby onto your insurance.
Good luck!
Not until after the baby is born. The baby will be covered automatically for the first 30 days.
usually it needs to be done inwardly th first week. even though your insurance knows you are pregnant, they are going to ask for proof of delivery which you can carry from your OB/GYN. If anything needs to be done immediately they insurance should run back to the day the infant is born and cover everything. the best thing to do is call your insurance company and ask them for the paperwork to supply your baby and fill a much out very soon so when the baby gets here a short time ago add the few last minute things and in that are no delays. Good Luck! Source(s): worked in OB/GYN department
Talk to the Human Resources person at your place of employment (or whomever holds the health insurance). It is usually automatic that the babe-in-arms is covered (so don't worry about that). However, you should sort your employer aware that you will be adding a dependent. Speak with your Human Resources personnel....they will know how to help you.
With most plans they cover the baby starting at birth. The insurance obviously know your pregnant. I would call to make sure if your worried just about it.
The hospital usually calls and add the baby onto your plan as soon as he/she is born. Since the baby will be see by dr's and have tests done that insurance will call for to process, they take care of it for you.

You'll go and get an updated card a few weeks after.
