Admitted within ICU beside no form insurance?
My father suffered a stroke and has been surrounded by ICU for the past couple of days and is expected to be in the hospital for the subsequent couple of months. He is incapable of making his own decisions and he just not long divorced his wife, so therefore I am his power of attorney. We recently found out he does not enjoy health insurance, I have no perception what to do next. He does not own a house or his car, so primarily he has nothing to confer. What will happen next, will he not be treated? How will the bills be remunerated? Are they going to go after myself for payment? What steps do I call for to take?
Answers:
You need to pinch to someone at the hospital to help you file paperwork to catch your father enrolled for Medicaid and Medicare. If he doesn't have any assets (no money, no motor, no house) there shouldn't be any problem getting him approved - then the parliament will take care of the majority of the bills and it is possible that the hospital will write past its sell-by date the remainder of any bills after Medicare/Medicaid pay. And just because you are power of attorney - that does NOT brand you financially responsible for his bills and dont let them try to make you assume that!
They can not not treat him even if he doesn't have insurance. You need to move about to the administration office and they can set up payments for him. At this point verbs about getting your father healthy. I don't presume they can come after you for payment.
