Health Insurance?

My mom broke her abkle in three places and had to capture three pins put into her ankle. This was over 10 yrs ago, needless to read out alot has happened since afterwards. Including divorce loss of job having to live near relatives etc, I have been underneath the impression for years that my mother had these pins removed years ago, but I hold recently found out that she never had them removed because she have been without insurance for abundant years. This ankle now pains her and she cannot standup for long periods of time, and a dusk mark has begin to appear on her ankle. I live in Savannha Ga and I was wondering if anyone have any suggetions on where my mom could go to own someone look at it, even though she does not have health insurance. She have a low income and is 55 years old. I am worried.
Answers:
she should apply for medicaid. it will cover all expenses on the surgery.
Does she own her original records from when this happen (including x-rays)? What I would suggest, and I don't know if this work or not, but I'm hoping it will. The following link is a page on the AMA website:

It is a list of medical school in your general nouns which have an orthopaedic surgery residency program. More than likely they'll own clinics where they see patients. Call the one closest to you (or your mother if you're not nearby), explain the situation and see if there's any way she could be see at least for an initial examination and if any sort of payoff plan can be worked out.
yeah, your local county offices should enjoy the resources she needs to get to the doctor. Also, any clinic and hospital will allow for a fee plan to be worked out for patients with no insurance. Also, they lower the price EXTREEMLY when this is the case, and will work beside you to either soak up some costs or make the plan for reimbursement.

If she had insurance coverage when she broke her foot......(even if they dropped it right after that)....she would have still be covered under that insurance as a pre-existing condition. Therfore, the insurance that was available at the time of the first visite, would own been responsible. 10 years later.....NOPE.
has she tried applying for Medicaid, or any other low income insurance? usually most doctor office wont see her unless she pays upfront. or the er can't refuse to see her but can have bill of several hundred dollars
