Is my employer required to reinstate my strength insurance when I return to work, after human being out of work for 6m's?

I was laid off from my employer after working for year and a partly due to the recent economy crisis and now they want me to come support after 6 months of being laid off. They explain to me though I have to wait another 3 months while working for them within order to receive my health insurance again. Is this right?
Answers:
you are self treated as a new hire which is standard after being gone so long, it is the insurance companies rules not the employer
It depends on the regulations of the country/state/province you are working in, as well as those of the insurance mover. If you were officially out of work and are being asked to return, the 6 month break in service may be a trigger cause you to be treated as a new hire. It doesn't hurt to ask the question as to why this is arranged.

There are a few employers that have compensated their portion of insurance towards your own coverage in the 90 day dawdle period as good belief gesture. Source(s): I'm in HR.
