Can my church bestow group strength insurance to the entire congregation?
Members of the church would have to pay their portion, but can the church bestow group health insurance to members of the congregation?
We’re contained by Virginia, and insurance isn’t currently offered to the two part-time staff.
Answers:
Is your church licensed to sell insurance? If not, no.
For a GROUP condition plan, at least 50% of the eligible people must contribute.
Can you get half the congregation to sign up? And consequently, ONE ENTITY is responsible for the bill every month, for EVERYONE. You cannot make changes from month to month. If you can't collect premium from someone, on a group plan, you still own to PAY for them, whoever the one billing person is.
In other words, it's not realistic.
Interesting question. Quite needed, actually.
If you are asking something like the entire congregation
and not just the two hired staff, I think that's something
we should ALL pray for!
I would say aloud as with any business, large or small,
employer can look into getting insurance through one of many
insurance companies, who are willing to do it,
for a price. Usually much greater, the less employees.
But as for the entire congregation,
because they are not workers, I do not believe any company
would offer such coverage.
May the Lord bless you and yours.
P.S. Oh yes, I almost forgot. When employees are recreational, I do not know if the companies will offer them insurance. There are other companies around that offer "discount" insurance primarily. They usually call those indemnity plans.
yes, but you would need atleast 100 individuals and it would be expensive unless your average person is less than 40 years old-fashioned..
and it would still be 300 bucks or more per month.
True group robustness insurance cannot be offered to congregants. You could obtain individual insurance for congregants using a group rating scheme, if the congregation be large enough and if the insurance company wishes to shift along with the idea.
