Answers:
you will need to seize travel insurance, i went to new zealand and concluded up getting tonsillites and had to go to the doctors, it terminated up costing me $62.50 and i didnt have travell insurance, even if your not sick i still say draw from travell insurance
depends what type of visa you own
if its a tourist or working holiday visa you will need travel insurance before you give notice home
if you are immigrating permanently you will be covered by medicare Source(s): http://www.immi.gov.au/living-in-austral…
adjectives of the above
We have a public medicare system but as a visitor you will want to take out insurance. You can arrange travel insurance from your country . Phone around or ask your travel agent
Australian "residents for taxation purposes" (the trial term - just deem "Australians") are covered by the free (paid for through our taxation system) Medicare system. This will not apply to you unless you fit this description.
If you are a tourist you will need your own travel insurance (the same type that pays for lost bags, cancelled flights etc).
And if you are a student here - next as part of the conditions of that visa you will have have to arrange and pay for private health insurance (more resembling you're used to in America).
So, to simply answer your question: yes, free for us, no, not for you. ;)
if you are holidaying newly get travel insurance in your counrty beforehand leaving.. it you are living and working you need to sort out private condition insurance and its a long way from being free
I concur with the above comments - condition insurance is never part of an employment package - you involve to pay for it yourself. But dont worry - its no path near expensive as in the US.
