No insurance. Going to a "free" clinic tomorrow for a pap smear...?
Almost 2 years ago, I was diagnosed with HPV 16. I have just gotten off birth control and ever since next, my periods have be a little screwy. I'm overweight. I'm thinking this is why my periods are anomalous when I'm not forcing them to be normal by being on birth contol. My boyfriend and I enjoy been trying to conceive since October, 2007. I don't have insurance anymore, so I own to go to a free women's health clinic tomorrow for an "every six months" pap smear, due to my HPV.
I tried explaining what I call for the appointment for and the receptionist on the phone wasn't understanding what I wanted. She be saying, since this was a free service, controlled by the command funding... that they wouldn't be able to HELP me figure out why my period are irregular, so that I can try to get pregnant. That they just do pap smears and dispense out birth control. :|
No insurance. What happens when I need another colposcopy - I've needed two already since they told me I have HPV? Will I just be billed?
What will they do about my irregular length? Should I have to LIE to them about why I want to grasp my period on track? So that I can have a child? They're in the business of preventing pregnancies!
I don't know what to tell them... Should I budge on birth control to regulate my periods, then stop it and try to conceive again?

PS - if your irregular period is just a convenience issue or a ttc (trying to conceive) issue, the 'free' clinic is not equipped to do that.
Going on birth control to 'regulate' your cycle freshly to go off of it to ttc is a discouraging idea. The birth control provides an artificial signal to your body to menstruate and you do not ovulate with birth control. You should do that before you bring back pregnant.
