My partner just called up his sports car insurance company to have me down as a named driver on his saloon.
all the asked for is my name, DOB and my occupation. and they said at hand is no charge its free.
Is this for real?? why is it free?? nothings free these days lol

Assuming he gave them all the correct details that they asked for consequently you are ok. After all you are not the main driver.
There will logically be other circumstances that we don't know e.g. might be a low value car, you might live within the Highlands of Scotland etc etc
