You probably cannot get Medicare since "really bad eyesight" is most predictable not considered a disability. If your income is below a certain level, you may be capable of get Medicaid but they are usually very predetermined benefits. Eye surgeries are usually considered elective unless you have cataracts but at 29 that is to say not very common. Your best bet would be to telephone your local Dept of Health and see what options you have available.
Alternatively, in attendance should be a place in your state called something similar to "Department for the Blind and Visually Impaired" which is what it is call here in Maine. They help everyday population who are blind or severely impaired with their eye doctor appointments, special appointments call "low vision exams", which includes instructions and testing out special equipment to aid you function with the vision you do enjoy left. They also do lighting and glare evaluations within your home to see if anything can be improved to help you see.
If you are considering Lasik or something similar, you probably will not procure any help with it. Also, if eyeglasses can remedy your situation but you just don't like them...you won't be getting oblige for that either. They only give support to the people that have no other substitute.
Good luck, though! Source(s): paraoptometric tech
Would the surgery you "need" be LASIK? If so, it is usually considered cosmetic and most insurance plans will not cover it.
Your asking for free insurance from the government when you own a PPO? They would never give it to you anyways. You already have insurance. And resembling the other person said. If you are trying to get LASIK its cosmetic. Why cant you wear contacts? If your PPO isnt doing anything for you they dont ponder its an issue you cant correct with lens.
